Arizona Department of Public Safety Air Rescue Crews Rescue 20 People During Weekend Flooding Operations
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) Ranger helicopter crews conducted 27 rescue missions across Arizona over the weekend due to severe weather.
On November 1, 2026, Ranger 3 assisted the Sedona Fire District with the rescue and extraction of 18 individuals along Oak Creek. Air crews utilized short-haul rescue operations to safely remove stranded victims from the flood-impacted area.
On the same day, Ranger 2 responded to Southern Arizona at the request of the Pima County Sheriff's Office, where two additional rescue operations were conducted.
In total, 20 people were rescued by AZDPS air rescue crews.
"These missions demonstrate the critical role our aviation and rescue personnel play in protecting lives during severe weather events," said Colonel Jeffrey Glover, Director of the Arizona Department of Public Safety. "We are proud of the professionalism and dedication displayed by our brave Ranger crews and our local public safety partners."
The Arizona Department of Public Safety reminds outdoor enthusiasts to closely monitor weather forecasts and avoid entering waterways, canyons, or low-lying areas during periods of heavy rain, as conditions can change rapidly and become life-threatening.
